Obama, McCain, and Online Bingo

This year’s presidential race is a real cliffhanger. Different polls show both candidates in the lead and it is virtually impossible to call the race at this time. On the right, conservative voters seem unhappy with McCain, and the left is disappointed with many of Obama’s positions on various issues. Many voters are single issue oriented and tend to vote for a candidate based on a single issue that is important to them. Since the passage of the Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 bingo players and gamblers in general have been left in limbo and many of these voters are extremely interested in the candidate’s positions on internet gambling.

While Mr. McCain’s position on sports betting is clear, (he is against it) his position on internet gambling and bingo is not clear. While McCain has a reputation as a maverick within his own party, during this presidential race he may have to pander to right wing religious elements in his party to have a chance of success with these issue voters.

Obama has not taken a clear position on internet gambling either but he is seen as more open to the possibility of regulating and taxing internet gambling. Obama has a reputation as a skilled poker player and has been endorsed by Doyle Brunson, ten time winner of the World Series of Poker. Obama is perceived as being more open to the legalization of online gambling including bingo.

Who do online bingo players prefer? The online bingo portal BingoLingo.com has conducted an informal poll and the results reflect the preferences of online bingo players. In the race between Obama and John McCain 67% prefer Obama while only 17.5% would vote for McCain. These results clearly reflect the views of most of the online gaming community.

Mr. McCain and the GOP in general are perceived by most online bingo players and gamblers in general as unfriendly towards gambling of any sort. There are many Republicans of a libertarian bent who support the legalization of online gambling but they do not comprise a majority in the GOP. The GOP is split between conservatives who stand for smaller government and less government regulation of personal behavior, and social conservatives who seek government intervention into the private lives of citizens.

Since Mr. Obama has a reputation as a relatively skilled poker player he, and the Democratic Party are seen as more sympathetic to the legalization and regulation of online gambling such as bingo and poker. While the BingoLingo poll is not scientific it does reflect what other gaming websites are saying. Many gambling portals and websites have featured articles and posts by Republicans who are going to vote Democratic for the first time based on the online gambling issue.

No matter whom you plan to vote for and no matter what your party affiliation BingoLingo welcomes you as a visitor and participant. Log on to the home page and vote in our poll and while you’re there treat yourself to some free bingo with our fantastic free bingo game—and don’t forget to vote!

Hilarious Bingo Jokes at BingoLingo.com

Almost anything and everything in this world is subject to humor of various sorts and bingo is no exception. Bingo players make fun of themselves and their favorite pastime with jokes, poems, limericks, and situational humor. Bingo is exceptionally popular in the United Kingdom and the UK is a veritable gold mine of bingo jokes and humor. Occasionally some jokes submitted by players in the UK require a translation for their American counterparts because of the differences in dialect.

BingoLingo has searched the web and online libraries in an attempt to have the most complete collection of bingo related jokes and humor to be found on the web. BingoLingo maintains four categories of bingo jokes, two generic categories ‘’more cool bingo jokes’ and ‘even more jokes’, Q and A jokes, Poems and Limericks, and a Bingo Prayer. All these have been gleaned from extensive, time consuming searches.

Bingo players as a whole are a very unique group and much of the humor collected reflects this. Statistics show that about 80% of bingo players are women and consequently a great deal of bingo humor is feminine. Bingo players, whether online or offline, love their game and also love to engage in sometimes self deprecating humor. It is a rare bingo player who does not possess a keen sense of humor.

Most people have a stereotypical image of the typical bingo player but the demographics of bingo defy these stereotypes. Once thought to be the exclusive domain of little old ladies in smoky church basements on is just as likely to find supermodel material in a bingo hall as one is likely to encounter the little old lady stereotype. A few of the jokes collected by BingoLingo reflect this phenomenon, in particular the ‘Bingo Card’ joke which combines bingo and marital infidelity with hilarious results.

The webmaster at BingoLingo is constantly searching for new bingo jokes and BingoLingo encourages readers to send their jokes to: webmaster at BingoLingo.com. In fact BingoLingo is offering players a really awesome t-shirt or a really cool sun visor for the best bingo jokes received. BingoLingo has also just added a brand new state-of-the-art free no download bingo game which can be accessed from the home page at BingoLingo.

As the old saying goes ‘laughter is the best medicine’ and recent medical science has borne this old adage out. People with a keen sense of humor have significantly longer life spans than do their dour counterparts. This could account, in part, for the relatively large number of bingo players of advanced age in great shape mentally and physically. A happy person is more likely to enjoy life and a correlation has been found linking a good sense of humor with longevity. Those who want a good laugh should go to BingoLingo and check out the jokes and don’t forget to play their free bingo game while you’re there.

Yahoo Bingo

Many people are aware of Yahoo as one of the top search engines, but most are unaware of the numerous games Yahoo provides free of charge. Yahoo provides several free bingo games that rival any games provided by paid bingo sites. Online bingo is a game of pure chance where players attempt to match randomly picked numbers to the numbers on their bingo cards with a 5 X 5 grid. In addition to the traditional diagonal, horizontal, or vertical patterns, other more exotic patterns may be selected. These patterns may be based loosely on letters, or object. When the player matches all the numbers in a particular pattern, bingo is declared.

While most Yahoo games are 75 ball bingo a special 90 ball version is available for players in the UK and Ireland where 90 ball bingo is immensely popular. Players may play up to eight cards at a time increasing the chances of winning. In the UK, and Ireland, players may play for real money while online gambling remains illegal in the US due to the ill advised Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. There is also an Australian version that is free and no prizes are offered.

One Yahoo bingo game available to US players is their version of “Saints and Sinners Bingo”. Saints and Sinner Bingo is more than simply listening to the numbers being called and then marking off the appropriate spot on your Bingo card. In this game, you get to choose your character and you play against some really wacky Bingo players. With Saints and Sinner Bingo, you can win charms along the way, and then use those good luck charms to help you out anytime it looks like you’re not doing so well. Saints and Sinners bingo is a unique form of bingo. First, it is competitive unlike traditional bingo. Second, the only place to play is online. The characters have catchy names and the dialog between characters can be very humorous. You will be playing with other people in 20 cities across the country. This is a very fast paced game and if you're not on your toes you won’t stand a chance. The Yahoo version requires a quick easy download which only takes about three minutes.

For UK, Ireland, and other European Yahoo Bingo players, the selection of games rivals that of many professional online bingo sites. Yahoo bingo games require a download and players have a choice of programs used. In addition to online bingo Yahoo offers online games in several categories including, card games, board games, fantasy sports, emulated arcade games, and word games such as scrabble.

In addition to Yahoo’s bingo games some sites such as BingoLingo offer interested player’s free online bingo. For those new to online bingo these free games are a perfect way to become familiar with the workings of online bingo and other games. Online bingo keeps getting better as time goes by and is worth checking out.

72% Play Games Online

A recent study by Harris Interactive found that 72% of all adults have played a game online. Not sure what types of games are played, but some of the online games must be bingo games.

The study also showed that 50% use social networking sites and 23% use online dating sites.

Where are they playing these games? My guess is mostly at work!

No Shit!!

Bingo is an ancient game that has evolved over the centuries to the game that most of us know. Bingo has been adapted for a number of purposes sometimes with humorous and entertaining results. There are political bingo games, bingo games based on rock music, games based on lifestyles (hipster bingo) and bingo games involving animals. Two of the most popular bingo games involving animals are, chickenshit bingo, and cow patty bingo.

In the game of chickenshit bingo a space is fenced off and a grid the same as a traditional bingo card is laid out. Chickens are then introduced into the enclosed area and whenever a chicken defecates on a square it is considered as marked much like traditional bingo. Cow patty operates in a similar manner but due to the size of the animals involved the grid area is significantly larger.

Cow patty bingo is very popular in rural America and is used primarily as a fundraising tool for various charitable organizations. Cow patty bingo can be quite unpredictable due to the nature of the animals involved. Recently in Burlington, North Carolina a couple of constipated cows forced the rescheduling of an American Red Cross game of cow patty bingo.

People that enter choose a square and if one of the cows poops in their square they win $1,000! Unfortunately neither cow was cooperative and chose not to poop until they were loaded in the truck for the return trip home. Suzanne Phillips expressed surprise at the non delivery of patties given the fact that cows have four stomachs and usually defecate frequently. Another factor that may have contributed to the non productivity is the cows’ familiarity with humans.

He game has been rescheduled for August 16th, so if you happen to be in the vicinity of Burlington, South Carolina, stop in and check out cow patty bingo. It’s for a good cause!

Winning In Bingo: The Tips

A lot of people nowadays enjoy the bingo game. It is a game of chance which has lottery as its “mother.” Some people play the said game just for fun while some really aim to win. The question is: “Is there really a foolproof tip in winning the said game?

Winning in bingo online, according to most people would not really require skills but would require having luck on your side. However, there are a few things you can do in order to increase your chances in bagging the prize.

The first tip that you should remember is to play with only a couple of cards. Playing with a lot of cards would only leave you confused since it would be very hard to keep track if you have a lot. Playing many cards all at once may prevent you from focusing and noticing that you have a winning card on hand.

Another important thing is for you to sign up with sites that allow you to play free bingo if you are a newbie and would like to get the hang of the game more. Sign up with sites that have fees and could give you more jackpot prizes once you find yourself confident enough and have developed some tricks up your sleeve.

Lastly, every time you notice that you are in the losing end, take a break, be calm, and relax. Once you get your hopes up again, play once more. Make sure that you are attentive as well as alert during the course of the game. Strive to learn more about the game and apply what you’ve learned in order for you to win and earn money. Also, you should never forget to have fun and focus at the same time.

8 States Without Lotteries

Despite the fact that lotteries provide a great source of government revenue for state programs, especially education, and a great amount of fun, there are 8 states that currently do not have state lotteries. The states that currently do not have lotteries are: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. It is evident why most of these states continue to resist implementing a state lottery. For example, in Alabama, Mississippi and Utah, there is considerable religious opposition to all gambling. In Nevada, the casino industry opposes the lottery because of the competition it would create. Both Alaska and Hawaii are isolated from other states and therefore need not worry about losing money to nearby states. Lottery supporters in all eight of these states remain hopeful that a state lottery will eventually be put into place. If this happens, these 8 states could not only create their own exciting lotteries, but also participate in multi-state games such as Powerball and Mega Millions.

Alabama

In 1999, a constitutional amendment to allow a State Lottery was defeated in the state of Alabama. Approximately 54% of voters opposed the lottery referendum while 46%, supported it. The total voter turnout was estimated at 50%. There is a strong Christian argument against instating the lottery in the state of Alabama. There has been little talk since 1999 about another state lottery proposal.

Alaska

In 2003 there was a lot of buzz about gambling proposals in the state of Alaska. However, unlike Alabama, Alaska never brought a state lottery proposal to ballot. There has been little talk lately of implementing a state lottery in Alaska.

Arkansas

There is much talk in Arkansas about instating a state lottery. In fact, on April 13th, 2008 Lt. Gov. Bill Halter announced that enough signatures had been collected to put a lottery proposal on the Nov. 4 ballot. The state lottery proposal in Arkansas is described as the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. The proceeds of the lottery would be used to fund scholarships and grants to citizens of Arkansas who are enrolled in public and private nonprofit colleges and universities located within the State. In 1996 and 2000, Arkansas voters rejected state lotteries whose proposals also included provisions for casinos. It seems the Arkansas citizens will get another chance to vote on an Arkansas state lottery at the end of this year.

Hawaii

Hawaii also does not have a state lottery. Like Alaska, there has been little talk lately in Hawaii about instating a state lottery. There are few arguments for or against a state lottery in Hawaii. Politicians' main argument against a state lottery centers around the idea that it is unnecessary and is not needed for the education system to thrive.

Mississippi

While Mississippi does have casinos, it does not have a state lottery. In fact, proposals for a state lottery tend to be defeated in Mississippi because they would take away from casino profit. In 1990 a proposal for a state lottery was defeated in Mississippi. Like Alaska and Hawaii, there is little talk lately about the prospect of a state lottery in Mississippi.

Nevada

Like Mississippi, state legislatures have continuously voted down the state lottery proposals because it will interfere with the casino industry. In fact, a proposal for a Nevada state lottery has failed 24 times since 1975, and the people have never gotten the chance to decide. In 2007, on the 25th try, a bill made it through the House of Representatives but it has not been acted on in the senate yet. This bill would allow voters to decide the issue, although the legislature would have to approve the bill again in 2009 before it would appear on the ballot in 2010. There is constant talk in Nevada about implementing a state lottery.

Utah

Utah is the only state that currently does not have a lottery that is not seriously consider implementing a state lottery. Like Mississippi and Alabama, there is widespread religious opposition to gambling. There is little talk lately of putting into place a state lottery in Utah where gambling is completely banned.

Wyoming

Like the preceding seven states, Wyoming does not have a state lottery. For over ten years, lawmakers in Wyoming have been considering a state lottery. A proposed bill was narrowly voted down in 2005 by the Wyoming House of Representatives. In February of 2007 a bill to introduce a state lottery was voted down again by the Wyoming House of Representatives by a vote of 31-27. The talk of a Wyoming state lottery continues and supporters are hopeful that a lottery will soon be put into place.

How You Can Play the Lottery

If you live in any of these non-lottery states and wish to play this or any other state lottery, simply log onto official state lottery websites. These sites explain how to purchase tickets, and often times tickets can be purchased online so you can play most state lotteries from the comfort of your own home. You can also refer to official state websites for custom lottery news. Many sites offer lottery number generators to help make your lottery number picking easier for you. If you would like to purchase your tickets in person, you can also visit a local lottery terminal. No matter how you choose to purchase your tickets, or which tickets you choose to buy, you're bound to have some fun!

Does Online Bingo Spell the End for Traditional Bingo Halls?

The UK market has always loved to play bingo, this is apparent from the many "bricks and mortar" bingo halls that have been so popular throughout the UK. However, these establishments are under increasing pressure these days, in most part due to the unprecedented rise in popularity of on line bingo games.

Another major factor in the current decline of the old school bingo halls was the recent UK wide smoking ban. Many bingo players felt that they would rather play online bingo in the comforts of their own home, where they could also enjoy a cigarette, than keep going to the local halls. A win for the health of a nation has most certainly be a loss to the bingo operators!

It's a sad truth but the old British past time of going down to the bingo hall is in severe decline. Gala bingo is shutting down many of their smaller and less profitable halls, which is forcing more and more players to play online bingo. Personally I don't ever think land based bingo will be totally lost, I believe it will go through a major

Winnipeg Named Bingo Capitol Of Canada

Winnipeg Named Bingo Capital of Canada

BingoLingo, an online bingo portal specializing in bingo news and information conducted a study of bingo in Canada that yielded some surprising results. BingoLingo reported that Winnipeg, in central Canada, has more bingo games per capita than major urban centers such as Toronto.

Bingo is a wildly popular game in both the United States and the United Kingdom. In Canada, bingo is almost as popular with Canadians as it is with their British counterparts. From the largest urban areas to the remote north provinces, bingo players congregate in their local bingo halls for a night of fun and, hopefully, profit.

Winnipeg, in Manitoba, easily outperforms Toronto when it comes to bingo halls per capita. In Toronto the ratio of bingo halls to the total population works out to 1 bingo hall per 131,000 residents while Winnipeg has one bingo hall for every 19,000 residents. Obviously the citizens of Winnipeg are fond of bingo. While smoking bans have resulted in a drastic drop in attendance throughout North America, it does not seem to have had such a profound effect in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg is located on the plains in central Canada and is subject to extremes of cold and heat. It is possible that Winnipeg’s long winters account, in part, for the popularity of bingo. No natural barriers stand between Winnipeg and the Arctic and winters are notoriously cold and long. Bingo provides the residents of Winnipeg a chance to get out and socialize during the long winters and avoid “cabin fever.”

Winnipeg is home to a large Roman and Ukrainian Catholic population and the Catholic Church has used bingo as a fundraising tool for decades. According to figures from the Archeparchy of Winnipeg, almost one third of the populations of Winnipeg are Ukrainian Catholics. Since the 1930’s, bingo has been a tradition in parishes all over North America funding a variety of church activities and programs.

Veterans’ organizations have also found bingo a useful fundraising tool. According to the president of the National Association of Fundraising Ticket Manufacturers: “Veterans organizations service clubs, organized charities, volunteer fire departments and schools are the predominant beneficiaries of low-stakes gaming, as they have been for decades.” Programs funded by bingo include help for homeless veterans, care of older veterans, and a wide variety of charitable projects.

The results of the study were surprising. Montreal, Quebec, and Toronto were all outperformed by Winnipeg when it came to bingo halls per capita. No matter what the reasons for the immense popularity of bingo in Winnipeg, BingoLingo is pleased to name Winnipeg the “Bingo capital of Canada.”

Bovine Bingo?

Today while reading through all the Google alerts for bingo I stumbled upon the term ‘Bovine Bingo’. Naturally I was curious never having heard of this particular variant of the game of bingo. Further reading disclosed that this form of bingo is common in rural areas and is commonly played at county fairs usually for fundraising purposes.

Actually Bovine Bingo is more like a lottery than traditional bingo. The game is played by marking a grid consisting of rectangles in a fairly large enclosed area. The rectangles within the grid are usually numbered and participants in the game purchase chances on the various numbers. A cow is then released into the enclosure. Where the first ‘cowchip’ lands usually determines the winner.

In many rural areas of both the US and Canada this game is received with enthusiasm and is even covered in the local press. A recent edition of the Times, a newspaper from Ottawa Illinois, reads-

“Bovine Bingo winners named

Jessie Ragusa of Streator won $500 in the Lions Club Bovine Bingo contest during the weekend Heritage Days celebration

The contest began after the Clyde Tombaugh mural dedication and lasted eight minutes. Sara Redman provided the cow. Mayor Ray Schmitt determined the coordinates of the winning square.”

While news coverage of Bovine Bingo may seem quaint to urban readers it is a refreshing change from the crime reports and politics as usual that seem to dominate the news today. Bingo and its variants have been an entertainment staple in rural North America for decades. It is nice to know that bingo still entertains small town America.
